My Review:
After reading an excerpt of this book I knew that I just had to read the whole thing! A romance between a woman and the man who's about to destroy everything she holds dear...totally irresistible. Also, being a big fan of all of Elizabeth Camden's books I figured I was guaranteed to love it!

Sophie van Riijn is probably one of my favorite book heroines. I loved her! She had such a sweet spirit and yet a determination to make her dreams a reality. Quentin, at first a miserable grump, can't help but be affected by Sophie's optimism and cheerfulness. I appreciated the strong Christian message throughout. A self-proclaimed atheist and firm believer in science, Quentin is persuaded by Sophie's influence to see Christianity in a whole new light.

I also found it interesting to get a glimpse of weather forecasting in it's earliest stages. You might not think it's that interesting of a time period to base a book on but Elizabeth Camden did a wonderful job creating a completely invigorating book.

Random Novel / Lady of Bolton Hill

Don't you just love Summer? I sure do. I love looking out the window and seeing the sun, hearing the wind chimes and sounds of nature. Plus, it's nice to be able to take a swim after being hot all day. When you swim in a pond you just can't do that in other seasons. Too cold...

I just finished another of Elizabeth Camden's books and, like all of them, I LOVED it! I recently reviewed Against the Tide, a story of Alexander Banebridge and Lydia Pallas. This book, The Lady of Bolton Hill, is about Clara Endicott and Daniel Tremain but "Bane" from the afore mentioned book makes his first appearance here.

Now, onto the review!
Book Title: The Lady of Bolton Hill
Author: Elizabeth Camden

Description:
Female journalists are rare in 1879, but American born Clara Endicott has finally made a name for herself with her provocative articles championing London's poor. When the backlash from her work forces a return home to Baltimore, Clara finds herself face to face with a childhood sweetheart who is no longer the impoverished factory worker she once knew. In her absence, Daniel Tremain has become a powerful industry giant and Clara finds him as enigmatic as ever. However, Daniel's success is fueled by resentment from past wounds and Clara's deeply held beliefs about God's grace force Daniel to confront his own motives. When Clara's very life is endangered by one of Daniel's adversaries, they must face a reckoning neither of them ever could have foreseen.

My Review:
Elizabeth Camden is a gifted author who skillfully weaves together a beautiful romance, adventure, and historical facts. Every book that I've read of hers I've immensely enjoyed; and I've read every single one she's written.

You can't help but love both of the main characters of this book, even with their flaws and mistakes. Clara is an energetic and caring person. She'd do anything for Daniel; even try to help him overcome his thirst for revenge. Daniel comes across to everyone as gruff and insensitive but Clara knows the real him; a man who is passionate about protecting and providing for those he cares about.

I love it when an author writes such an enthralling book that you feel you are in the story too, right alongside the hero and heroine. The Lady of Bolton Hill was this way and I felt I was present in each of the scenes. I guess you could say I've now been in jail, had my house burnt down, and kidnapped. :) Pretty adventurous life, right?

If it's not obvious by my before words I'll say it now, I would recommend this book for fellow readers; especially those who love historical fiction.

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Author Interview

Be on the lookout for my next author interview, with Elizabeth Camden! Coming soon in the next couple of days!! :)

Random Novel / Against the Tide

I just read this book last week. I'd read a few of Elizabeth Camden's books before but I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed them. Each of her books has a beautiful romance along with a mystery-filled plot. You won't be able to set down the book until the last chapter is over!

Book Title: Against the Tide
Author: Elizabeth Camden

Description:
After a childhood rampant with uncertainty, Lydia Pallas has carved out a perfect life for herself. She spends her days within sight of the bustling Boston Harbor, where her skill with languages has landed her an enviable position as a translator for the U.S. Navy.

Lydia's talents bring her tot he attention of Alexander Banebride, a mysterious man in need of a translator. Driven by a campaign to end the opium trade, Band is coolly analytical and relentless in his quest. He cannot afford to fall for Lydia and must fight the bittersweet love growing between them.

When Bane's enemies gain the upper hand, he is forced to turn to Lydia for help. Determined to prove her worth, Lydia soon discovers that carrying out Bane's mission will test her wits and her courage to the very limits.

My Review:
Against the Tide is a historical fiction taking place in the last decade of the eighteen hundreds. Two characters are determined to bring an end to the growing trade of opium and in the mist of this they find themselves falling in love with each other.

I found the book to be exciting from the first chapter and was enthralled until the very end. I liked the main characters Lydia and Bane, as he was called, a lot. Lydia's past has shaped her into a young woman dependent on order for her security. Bane is driven with a calling that he's willing to sacrifice his future for.

In the whole book I was only dissatisfied with one thing. Bane left Lydia brokenhearted because he didn't want to risk her life and yet when something comes up he goes back to her because he needs her to infiltrate his enemy's mansion. Why is he all the sudden willing to risk her? It's a lot more dangerous sending her off by herself than having her by your side... I just didn't get it.

Anyway, even with that I felt it was a great book. One I would read again.

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Beyond All Dreams is a captivating book that I didn't want to set down. What could be better than reading a book about two people who love books just as much or maybe even more than I do! :) One of my favorite things about this book was Luke and Anna's interaction with each other. Their conversations are full of wit and humor and they bring out the best in each other. Full of mystery, romance, history, and wisdom for all who read, Beyond All dreams is one of my many favorite books.
